History of the House & Grounds

The main house oozes character and atmosphere and has been the home of romance, drama, history, family and friends since 1727. It was the birthplace of Daniel Murray, a nineteenth century Archbishop of Dublin. The land agents for the Earls of Wicklow lived here over several generations. The house was run as a  eight bedroom B&B for around ten years in the ‘90s and was home to the cast of the popular Irish TV show, Ballykissangel. In fact, we even have a Colin Farrell Room in the main house - winky face.

Sheepwalk House is set on 9 acres featuring a poly tunnel, an orchard, 16 raised beds, bee hives, sheep, hens, pheasants, gorgeous trees, fabulous wild flowers and an abundance of birdsong. This is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life. Whether you wish to hike in the mountains, splash in the sea, ramble in the forest or just curl up with a book in front of the fire, the options are endless.

Avid travellers ourselves, we have stayed in many different spots across the world and have taken inspiration from our favourites. We’ve stocked the house and cottages with things we’d want on a trip away. Our cottages are comfortable and cosy - these are not luxury cottages, but they are kitted out with lots of nice things, spots to relax in and take it easy.
