FAQ

Good to Know

Need a little more information before booking your stay? No problem, you can view our list of FAQs below and as always we’re only a click or call away!

Events

It is possible to rent the main house and the cottages, giving you private use of the lawns and courtyard. The grounds are perfect for all manner of small and intimate events like small weddings, family reunions, a friends get together, book clubs, yoga weekends, writing workshops, murder mystery parties, song writing retreats and lots more. Please note that we are not a big party place, so we don’t allow loud sound systems etc

Kids

There’s lots of green grass to play on and adventures to be had. Kids love checking out the hens, picking blackberries in season, seeing the veg plots or getting toasty in front of the fire while watching a movie on a rainy day. If there’s anything special you need for your kids, please let us know and we’ll do our best to organise.

Sustainability

We are committed to being as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. While we’re working to introduce as many initiatives as we can, it’s an ongoing project and there are lots of ideas we’ll be looking to bring to Sheepwalk House as we grow.  We encourage recycling, composting and discourage single use plastics. We’re always up for learning about new ways to be kinder to the environment so please do get in touch with ideas.

WiFi

Due to our location, we don’t have fibre optic broadband yet. We do have WiFi which covers The Main House, portions of The Granary, The Coach House and the courtyard. You are of course most welcome to use it - but please be forewarned that it’s not super fast and can be patchy.

The 4G signal works fine. If relaxing and watching movies is your thing, it might be a good plan to download what you fancy in advance. The TVs in the house and cottages are HDMI and USB enabled.

Pets

We would love to invite you to bring your pets, however, with our free range hens, visiting sheep and surrounding fields, we can’t welcome pets at this time.

Wood Stoves

We’ll have everything you need to set your first night’s fire. After that, we ask that you BYO. Please note that the stoves take briquettes and wood only. Please don’t burn anything else in the stoves

What’s in the Kitchen?

The main house and the cottage kitchens all come with the usuals - kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and a full set of cutlery, plates, pots and pans. Cooking essentials like salt, pepper and oil are included. We have a selection of spices in our Library for use by all the cottages - you know when you just need a dash of something a little different. Plus, we have a mixer, blenders and other culinary machines available to borrow, too.

We’re coffee fiends, so each cottage comes with a small amount of ground coffee and a French press for your caffeine fix. Tea fans, we’ve also got tea bags in for the perfect cuppa.

Shopping

If you need a big shop, we are just 10 minutes drive from a huge Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Dunnes Stores, all of which are sure to have what you need to whip up a delicious meal. Tesco Arklow deliver, please make sure that your delivery slot is after your arrival as we cannot guarantee that we will be onsite to accept your order.

BBQ

Each cottage has its own charcoal BBQ (BYO charcoal :), and The Main House has a gas BBQ, gas provided.
